Ingredients
- 2 cups boiled chickpeas (Kabuli Chana)
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon Prifeel Turmeric Powder
- 1 teaspoon Prifeel Red Chilli Powder
- 2 teaspoons Prifeel Coriander Powder
- 1 teaspoon Prifeel Garam Masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves
- 2 cups water
How to Make Chole Masala
Step 1: Prepare the Base
Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they crackle, sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
Step 2: Add Ginger and Garlic
Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook until fragrant.
Step 3: Cook the Masala
Add tomato puree and cook until the oil separates. Mix in Prifeel Turmeric Powder, Prifeel Red Chilli Powder, Prifeel Coriander Powder, and salt. Let the spices cook well to develop a rich flavour.
Step 4: Add Chickpeas
Mix the boiled chickpeas into the masala. Add water and simmer for 15–20 minutes so the chickpeas absorb all the delicious flavours.
Step 5: Finish with Prifeel Garam Masala
Sprinkle Prifeel Garam Masala over the curry, stir gently, and simmer for another 2 minutes.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
Top with freshly chopped coriander and serve hot with bhature, naan, roti, or steamed rice.
Tips for Perfect Chole Masala
- Cook the onion and tomato masala thoroughly for a rich gravy.
- Slightly mash a few chickpeas to naturally thicken the curry.
- Add Prifeel Garam Masala at the end for maximum aroma.
- Allow the curry to rest for 10 minutes before serving for even better flavour.
- Garnish with coriander, sliced onions, and a squeeze of lemon.
